Meet Our Founders
John M. Marcus, V.M.D., Owner
A native of Linwood, New Jersey, John has always had a passion for animals and their well-being. After rescuing an injured bird as a child, he knew he wanted to pursue a career as a veterinarian. Subsequent to completing his undergraduate studies at Colorado State University, John returned east to attend the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine, from which he graduated in 1997with his VeterinariaeMediciniaeDoctoris.
Initially after graduation, John focused on equine medicine, but was quickly drawn back to small animal medicine. He spent a number of years working at different animal hospitals across the country to get a better understanding of best practices in veterinary business, always knowing he wanted to run his own hospital. He is now the sole owner of New Hope Veterinary Hospital in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and is the co-owner of Evercare Veterinary Crematory Services with his veterinary school classmate, Dr. Scott Martens.
Scott F. Martens, V.M.D., Owner
Born in Sussex County, a rural area in northwest New Jersey, Scott has always been interested in animal health and welfare. Being mentored at a very young age by a neighborhood veterinarian, his career path was certain from very early on. After finishing early his undergraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University, he attended the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine. Focused on small animal medicine and surgery, he graduated Summa Cum Laude with his VeterinariaeMediciniaeDoctoris in 1997.
Post-graduation, Scott moved to southern California and practiced as a relief and emergency veterinarian. Scott returned back to his hometown area to establish his veterinary roots. He is now the sole owner of Hamburg Veterinary Clinic in Sussex County, NJ and is the co-owner of Evercare Veterinary Crematory Services with his veterinary school classmate, Dr. John Marcus.
